At this property in Nijmegen, we have carried out a complete ridge renovation, combined with replacing the leadwork around the chimney. The existing ridge was in an outdated condition and various components were starting to show wear and tear. To prevent future leaks and damage, a thorough renovation was chosen in which both the ridge structure and the chimney flashing have been completely addressed.
The photos clearly show how the old ridge construction was removed and rebuilt with new ridge tiles. In addition, the existing lead flashing around the chimney has been replaced with new leadwork that once again fits snugly against both the brickwork and the roof tiles. As a result, the connection is completely watertight once more.
New ridge construction and watertight chimney flashing
During the work, the existing ridge tiles were carefully removed, after which the ridge construction was inspected and repaired where necessary. Subsequently, new ridge tiles were installed and securely fastened, making the ridge resistant to wind loads and weather influences once again.
The lead around the chimney has also been completely renewed. The old lead showed clear signs of wear and tear and no longer offered the certainty of proper water drainage. The new lead has been precisely cut in and fitted, ensuring rainwear is safely drained once again and the connection is optimally protected against moisture.
Afterwards, all connections were checked and the roof was neatly finished. The renewed parts blend in nicely with the existing roof tiles, giving the whole a well-kept appearance once again.
